1939 EL Work Commencing...

 Sweet Inner Primary

Needs Minor Work

Beginning to get back on this 1939 EL. Next steps are cleaning out the oil bag and installing, then the rear fender, wheel, etc. Meanwhile I'll get this primary off and repair it. This bike should go together fairly quickly...no paint work or plating so it's all up to me...

The Horror...the horror...

I received these pictures in an email yesterday from "Bolt On"...the email was one word..."shit"...

Road Test...

I really need to put lights and something other then a 1941 plate on this thing...too tempting! I don't think I'm fooling anyone...

1941 Plate for the FLTT

From the book Harley Racers by Allan Girdler - regarding license plates on racers

41 FLTT Fine Tune and Polish

I haven't messed with the 41 FLTT since the initial start up. I finally got around to dumping the "start up" oil and refilling with H-D 50 W. The thing starts on one kick every time...so far...I dialed in the carb and blasted up and down the road a bit for some fine tuning. I washed the rest of the sticky dust off it from being in the house for so long and polished it up...not used to that!
OK now what do I do with it????? I need to get some lights and a plate on it and turn it into a street bike!

Firestone Studded Ground Grip Enduro/Jack Pine Tires

 One NOS one used
Firestone Studded Ground Grip

5.25 - 5.50 - 18

I had some questions regarding tires lately. Here are a couple of the Firestone Studded Ground Grip tires. I have seen these on "Jack Pine" and "Sandy Lane" Enduro bikes from the 40's and early 50's. I've had these for decades waiting on the right project. Yeah that's pigeon shit...
Not for sale just informational.

A "Real Deal" Enduro Knucklehead

Matt's real deal Jack Pine Knuckle (With a history)
\
My "Hydra Bob" 41 Knuckle

The bad ass yellow "Enduro" Jack Pine style Knucklehead owned by my buddy Matt in NC is reminiscent of my 41 "Hydra Bob" Knuckle or visa versa...I like his exhaust better!

White Rose 1980 - Steve McQueen with Red Wolverton & Annual Antique Rally Huntington Valley PA

From the 1980 White Rose Hillclimb Program. Steve McQueen and Red Wolverton, An Antique Rally in Huntingdon PA and "The Flying Franz's".
From the Larry Franz Collection...

Can't Stands no more!

Install ferrule on the stock line at the petcock end
Install ferrule on a short piece of line on the petcock side
and install original fitting and seal on the other end

Installed open
Installed shut

Got sick of the Servi-Car pissing all the fuel out. A quick shut-off fix was in order. I had petcock laying around and I actually pulled a used ferrule off an old piece of line...Once I had the petcock installed on line it just took a little bending to make up for the extra length of the petcock so both ends fit up OK.

 Lot shot (sent by Dave)

 Black Tibetans on stage

I did not get enough quality time with this Knuckle

The Love Show pictures keep popping up. A camera, two cell phones and an IPad's worth...not to mention a couple emailed to me from Dave in Frisco (Thanks Dave!). There's more that I will dribble out eventually...sorry for the fuzzy indoor/ night shots...oh yeah and I'll spare you all the scenery pictures (Kelly took pictures of every rock, cactus and road sign from Phoenix to Sedona...).

Saturday night at the Love Cycles party was another great time. I met a bunch of people and got a chance to check out cool bikes all night.
So here's a crazy story...Kelly and I are checking out the lightening bolts on the rear fender of this green Knuckle (see picture above) when a guy yells over "Hey, are you from the East Coast?" Yeah I say... "What's your name?" I tell him and he says "KnuckleBuster blog?" Yeah...He introduces himself , Dave from San Francisco...It turns out he reads the blog and has been looking for the Lightening Bolt saddle bag plates that I have on my "Dirty Nine " Knuckle forever but can't find them or any info on them, so he shows a picture of my bike to a painter and has them painted on his bike...when? 3 hours ago! What are the chances of a guy from the West coast and a guy from the East coast meeting in Arizona 3 hours after one paints his bike from a picture of the other ones bike?????
Dave introduced us to Mike and Rick...and here's another catch. Mike (who lives in Arizona) met me before in Oley PA years ago when I was doing burn outs on my 46 Knuckle...You can't make this shit up!
Mike invited Kelly and I over for a great BBQ and Super Bowl/ Bike Party on Sunday night. Jeremiah, Max and a bunch of folks from the Love party were there too. Really good time. It was great to meet you guys!
Arizona in February is the place to be!
