Wauseon 2012 - The Eighth and Final Chapter- Matt Olsen's Knuck and Everything Else

Matt Olsen's Born Free Best of Show Winner

One of my favorite options on this model...the Ratcheting Thumb Timer

Proud Poppa...

Yikes...time for a name change...

It was hot...Patent Pending

Carved into a picnic table at the fairgrounds

The only piece I bought at the meet...

Well I think this just about does it for the Wauseon 2012 coverage. Once again I was at the same meet as Matt Olsen and did not see him. I did however get to check out the show winning Knuckle he built for Born Free. I'm sure most folks have seen pics of this bike already based on the amount of sites I've seen it on , but it's well worth a look and was great to see up close and in person!
Oh, by the way, no race pictures this year...I took the year off for the first time and didn't even watch....

Wauseon 2012 - Part Seven - Dave's Fillin' Station

One Cool Old Clock

Lonnie's, Stanley's, mine and Dave's bikes at the pumps...

Stanley's 36 EL

Lonnie's Pan

The Watchman...

Another shot of Stanley's Knuckle

Lookin' out the front door...time warp...

One highlight of the Wauseon trip was a ride "Tower Dave" took us on. Me , Dave, Lonnie, Stanley and a guy on a Triumph who's name escapes me, headed out to an undisclosed location. On the way, we stopped at Dave's Fillin' Station. It is a true Blast Outta the Past! Dave gave me all the particulars on when it was built and added to and all, but I was a bit foggy and didn't retain all the facts (early 1930's?). All I know for sure  is that it's a beauty! Old pumps and all kinds of cool memorabilia inside and out. While we were relaxing and taking in the ambiance a group of old bikes from the meet pulled in. We all hung out for a while shootin' the shit and havin' a beer. Those guys took off and we headed toward our destination. On the way back to the meet later that evening we tried to out fox the various rain storms brewing in the sky above us but we ended up gettin' friggin' soaked....Great times!
I think there are a few more pictures left to post....

Wauseon 2012 - Part Six - Pinky

"Don't judge me"

"Pinky" in all her grandeur...

Dig that tail light man...

The illusive top clamp....

Full Frontal Baby!

While I wondered through the fields of old parts and bikes in Wauseon my eye caught this Pink and Black beauty. As I stood there gazing in wonderment,  I heard a laugh and a voice say "Take it for a ride"...It turned out that this beauty belonged to my buddy Lloyd from Upstate NY. It's a '49 EL springer model. It kick started with ease and rode great. As I cruised the meet, a wide smile on my face, I realized that there were confused looks in my direction as I motored by. A stark contrast from my '46 Cut Down Knuckle, melting the back tire and causing wide spread panic as I screamed past in a "burst of dirty thunder" (quote borrowed from Hunter Thompson). With the Pink and White Pom Pom tassels blowing in the breeze and  "Pinky" emblazoned on every side I simply exclaimed "Don't judge me" as I rode past.... I hit the horn and even that sounded "pink"... It was a site to behold!

Of course...more Wauseon pictures to come...
