Flat Track Knucklehead Morris Mag Fit...

Blocked the mag in the vise with wood...to try to unscrew
the original flat head countersunk screws...one down four to go...

Made sure the cap and ground stud
aren't in contact with the vise

It's always the last fuckin' one!

Never fear the Dremel's here...

Cut me a deeper slot ...

...and out she comes...didn't care about the old bronze plate

The new stud alignment should make this baby fit...

Installed with Torx supplied by Desh...

Fit in a mock up motor

Plenty of clearance with the relay mount...

1/4 inch spacer installed under the mounting tab...

Clears the push rod tube, cylinder and relay mount!
With plenty of room to advance and retard! Nice and easy!

So I picked up a mag plate from Desh (Morris Magneto) while at Wauseon. This plate has the studs re-positioned so you can slip the mag into a knuckle case without having to fuck with a grinder on anything. Getting the old flat head screws out of the existing plate was a bit of a pain but not too bad. The pictures are kinda shitty but you get the idea. It fits nice into the mocked up motor so it should work fine on the one I'm gonna use...

The Race of Gentlemen is ON!!!

I heard some rumors floating around that the TROG was canceled...that could not be further from the truth! Beach racing is alive and well and living in Wildwood New Jersey for October 2014 with the Harley-Davidson Motor Company as a sponsor!

One of those days...

Snapped the axle on the mower in the AM...
Fuck it I'll take the Flathead Ape Hanger out for a ride...

The Flathead stalled at an intersection and when kicked,
it popped through the carb and caught my pants on fire!

Later in the day my kickstand broke...
I don't "side kick" so it wasn't too bad...

Not the end of the world...or my ride...

Not even sure why I carried the parts around for the rest of the day

She does lean OK...that's all...

Desh from Morris Mag hooked me up with a plate
to adapt my old mag to my Knuckle...more to come...

Great to see friends from all over the U.S.A.
and the world for that matter out here!

Wauseon...what can I say...it was legendary! The weather was the best I've ever seen, the swap meet was overflowing with vendors and (from what I hear) the races were fantastic! We arrived on Wednesday to a sunny day in the high 70's. The vendors were rolling in and by Friday morning they had to take down a fence to fill a whole other field! I've never seen so many vendors in Waseuon...The parts were plentiful and some were even affordable! Friends from all over the globe arrived in droves...I didn't race this year so I was able to enjoy the meet all day and night on Friday for a change...I stuffed myself with Tacos and beer and ripped around on the old '46 Knuckle...what more could a kid ask for!
If you missed this one, you missed out!
