Early morning at Yosemite Pines - Day One of the Road Run
I been everywhere man...
Mike's Knuckle
Jerry's ride...
Dave and ...well never mind...
Getting ready to head out to the park...
First gas stop...
Brian assisting with another tweak or two on Ken's Pan...
Vince's '39
Manny's Knuckle
My ride for the week...
A missed turn heading toward Glacier Point...I pulled into a parking area and turned around to see all these folks followed me in...I guess they thought I knew where I was going...musta been the California plate on my bike...
Lunch break at Glacier Point
Not too shabby...
Glacier Point parking area...
Somethings funny...
Dr. Sprocket's...
A daring mountain rescue...
Done with lunch and back on the road...
The next gas stop...
Keep your eye on the Rusty Knuckle all the way in the back...look what happened right after I took this pic..
Oopsy...actually I can vouch for the fact that the Knuckle fell over all by itself...Dan was standing next to me and we watched it flop over...of course rather than help, I decided to follow my journalistic instincts and document the occasion in photos...
Dan showing us the proper technique...
I saw an instructional video on Youtube of a girl picking up a Road King utilizing the same method...
Ouch...
Onward...
Ken getting his camera ready...tired of gas pump shots...
Jerry and Mike cooked an awesome feast at the cabin that night!
Oh yeah...
Grill Master Mike....
Not too sure what's going on here...
Jerry cooking up a storm...Thank you!
An Indian encampment...
Kicking back after dinner...
If you've never ridden an old motorcycle through Yosemite National Park and the surrounding area... Put it on your list! I was last in Yosemite in the summer of 1973 (turned 10 years old there)...I remember a lot of that summer in the family station wagon touring California, Utah, Nevada and Arizona, memories etched in my mind forever.. But, to ride a Knucklehead (thanks again Ricky), with friends old and new through those valleys and over those mountains was the epitome of how to experience the roads and breathtaking scenery of Yosemite...
So, if the Yerba Buena Chapter puts on the Yosemite Road Run again...Don't Miss It!
My pics do not do it justice...like Ken said at one point..."I'd like to get a photo without a gas pump in the background". When we weren't gassing up or eating we were riding...Personally I haven't mastered the art of taking photos while riding...I tried a couple... not so good. We didn't stop much the first day for scenic shots...I did get a few more in over the next couple of days though...
Enjoy the pics...more to come...
Good photos Jeff. That place looks amazing. Good to see Ken and his bike back on the road, I met him when he was at Rick and Ramsey's place here in NC taking photos for Roller mag, he had a bummed knee then, I sold him that chained up foot clutch action this pass summer months before, good to see it getting used.
