Twenty Five or more years ago I found a great stash of original pre-1920 motorcycle literature in New condition. I sold some of the pieces over the years but held on to a few that were really cool. This is a 1909-1910-1911 Flying Merkel parts book. It is 36 pages of every part for singles and twins. It has incredible detailed pictures and exploded views. Above is an example of what is inside. I'm afraid of scanning too much and damaging it so I just did the center page that could open up enough to lay on the scanner.
Shit... I guess this thing is 100 years old now!
I also have a "New" 1918 Harley Accessory Catalog with the original envelop it was mailed in. I will post some images of that as well.
This is a very nice manual. I am currently restoring a 1911 Merkel and I would be interested in obtaining a complete scan of the document to help with making some missing parts. Is This possible?

Same question as the one above... Except mine is a 1910. anyone have an oil "pump" (metering device on the side of the case) that was 1910 only? I need to make a copy!
ReplyDeleteI'll see what I can do about scanning it. It is NOS and I don't want to ruin the binding by flattening it out.
ReplyDeleteI have a question and have been looking for an answer for over a year and you may be able to answer it. The flying Merkel tool kit has a adjustable wrench is anything else in the tool kit?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Actually Kirk I can answer that question. The parts book that I have has a detailed list and pictures of all the tools in the tool kit. I will see about scanning that page. The kit and attachments consist of 18 items including the tool bag etc.
ReplyDeleteI understand your need to preserve and would settle for a photo of it if need be and i would be happy to send you a contribution as well. I have been collecting motorcycle tool kits for the last year and this one interests me the most.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Kirk
