"Big Mikey" Revisited...

Big Mikey's '74 Sportster that he bought new...

Of course the Sportster spewed oil when I started it...

Warning...

"Little Mikey" (12) learning how to kick it through...

Good night buddy...

\
Found this in his garage...it hit home...

I did a little post on the passing of my good friend "Big Mikey" in October. Since then his wife called me and asked if I could help out by putting his bike away properly until his son "Little Mikey" (now 12) was old enough to mess with it. I said of course!
Well, I got back to Jersey today and took care of things...mainly just dump the gas and pull the battery, stuff like that. "Little Mikey" was assisting me and together we got it all squared away. It felt good to get this done. I gathered all his bike parts together and boxed 'em up. In doing so, I found the button pictured above...I stared at it for a few and put it back where I found it...I also found some other stuff..."Shovel Buddy" time if you catch my drift (Google it)...
Anyway, Mikey's old Sportster is resting comfortably until it's time for it to be recommissioned...I showed the kid how to kick it through and told him to go out there and do it every now and again.
Continue to R.I.P. Mikey...

1947 FL Tinkering and Frustrating

Ready for a productive day...so I thought...

Fuck, fuck, fuck...

Out with more chrome...

...and in with more Parkerize and black paint...need the correct bolts...time to call Old Dude...

Insulators and 10-32 x 7/8 Fillister heads...time to call Old Dude...

Set aside some time today to make progress on the 47 FL...6 hours later and it looks like I did nothing. Not a solid 6 hours but still frustrating. I've been fucking with the back wheel all morning. The thing would spin and hit a tight spot. I changed a ton of stuff  and had it off and on many times...it looks like I finally got it working right. I moved to the foot clutch assembly and tossed the chrome one in favor of one I Parkerized a while ago. I have to order more hardware from Old Dude. I then moved to the headlight bracket and got into some more frustration and have to order even more hardware...
Damn this was just gonna be a sheet metal swap out when I started in July (I think)!
Fuck this for now...I'm goin' for a ride...

The Wicked Ones...

That's my boy on the far left...

My son Jesse and college friend Sean Roberts have been working on this Independent Film for a while. They filmed it in Philly and the surrounding area. It looks like it's just about finished and they are having a premier next month. They gave me a small part as a "Cleaner"... I have yet to see that footage...or any footage except the trailer for that matter...
It was kinda funny when I pulled up to the shoot in my van...the cameraman said to Jesse, "Hey... where did your dad get that cool murder van?" Jesse said, "What do mean that's his regular vehicle"...maybe it was the plastic shower curtain (spatter shield) hanging behind the seats, the tie downs, rope, duct tape, chain saw, gasoline can, tarps and other implements of destruction that are normally in there..I don't know...

Anyway, below is the link to the movie trailer on youtube....
