Tavern Ice

My kid came in from getting gas tonight and said "I am NOT going back out there!" I asked how the roads were...he said he spun out and hit a guard rail, there was a lady in a ditch down the road and the roads were covered with ice. I immediately got up put on my jacket and goggles and fired up the Servi Car...MY KIND OF CONDITIONS!!!!!
I stopped for an adult beverage along the way and my controls iced up...Nice! I ran it just about outta gas and came home. I drove down to the gas station and filled my gas can and now I'm ready for another run! Fuck I'm stupid!
It is actually thundering and lightening out there... when the lightening flashes with the snow it fuckin' blinds you! Like a camera flash! Cool.

Indian Speedo?

This speedo came with the vertical Indian I just picked up. Anyone know anything about it. It's reverse. Not sure if it belonged to the bike or not. (Never mind the AT&T logo its a reflection from my cell phone).

RIP "Gentleman" Ray Dhue

The Gentleman on his 49 Pan Harmony '87

Gentleman Ray's Meeting Minutes June 1987

Saddlebags I got from Ray in the early 80's

Received some bad news today.

At 10:30 this morning "Gentleman" Ray Dhue passed away. I have known Ray since the 80's through the Colonial (North Jersey) Chapter of the AMCA where he served as Secretary for many years. Ray lived up to his name and unlike me, he was always polished, courteous, respectful and he produced meticulous restorations. Although two people couldn't be more different (both in life style and reputation not to mention motorcycles) we got along great! I still have a set of Buco saddlebags that I got from Ray in the 80's. I ran them on my Knuckle and Flathead for years. Now they hang on the mantle above the fireplace waiting to go back into service. I also purchased a1954 HD 165 from Ray that I still own.

I just saw Ray at the Jefferson Meet this past October. He was his usual self. He had moved down to Florida some years ago but I would still see him at most events in the North East.

I dug up an old copy of the Colonial Chapter News Letter "The Kicker" and low and behold it was the June 1987 issue where Ray mentions my marriage in his column. Interesting that he mentions "threatening skies" on that day...maybe he was a profit as well.

I will miss "Gentlemen" Ray Dhue...Rest in Peace my friend...

Feels like 12...

Had the police bikes out on maneuvers today. Checked the weather it said "Feels like 12". Took the Sevi-Car out first for an ice check, burger and beer. Then fired up the 63 and patrolled the area. All was right with the world...
I thinks I'll head back out before dark.

39 EL Motor Complete and Awaiting Installation!

Buttoned up and just about ready

M5

There's No Such Thing As A Bad Hummer...or is there?

1959 ST 165

Some thing's missing

Drive Safely...ha ha...go fast and take chances!

Looking up at the Buick

Little Indian carcass

Spares...
Took a ride out to Mark's (Twisted Customs) last night to bring a 6 volt battery and get the '51 Buick running. No spark...cleaned the points off and she fired up and ran good! New fuel pump, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines and hoses. Now she will start and stop. The only exhaust is the header pipe, no muffler or tail pipe (rotted off). Man that Straight Eight sounds cool unmuffled! There are electrical issues a plenty...lights work sometimes... I guess a bunch of bare 60 year old wires will tend to produce those problems.
Mark talked me into taking a van load of junk home with me...what could I say? It was for a good cause.

39 EL - We've seen this bike before...

I posted a picture of this guy and the 39 EL before. In the other photo he was posing with another gentleman near a lake. Nice close up of the primary side of the 39.

39 EL Motor Coming Together

Getting there!
The lower end and cylinders are buttoned up. The early four fin cylinders were bare metal and required some paint...I'll have to do something about that...a wire brush maybe to tone it down. I'm pretty pleased with the cam cover finish. After I get some rough miles on her I'm sure it will all gel...

Mid shift

This kid looks about 15. Hey... where's your horn?

This just in...

Motorcycle Mike just emailed me these pictures of a 41 Knuckle that he got rid off years ago and just got back.
Fuckin' Beauty!
Check out the extra oilers??? going up between the cylinders...WTF? Drains maybe? Complete with Mikuni stickin' out the other side, shovel pump and auto advance distributor...are those Panhead tappet block screws used on the cam cover?
I need to do an Upper and Lower GI on this thing!

"Bat" Shield

Looks like he's out marking tires in inclement weather.
I used to run one of these "Bat" Shields (as we called 'em) on my Servi-Car in the winter when I was a kid. I still have it in the attic, maybe I'll re-enlist it's services again...hopefully it's not dry rotted by now.
