Blocked the mag in the vise with wood...to try to unscrew
the original flat head countersunk screws...one down four to go...
Made sure the cap and ground stud
aren't in contact with the vise
It's always the last fuckin' one!
Never fear the Dremel's here...
Cut me a deeper slot ...
...and out she comes...didn't care about the old bronze plate
The new stud alignment should make this baby fit...
Installed with Torx supplied by Desh...
Fit in a mock up motor
Plenty of clearance with the relay mount...
1/4 inch spacer installed under the mounting tab...
Clears the push rod tube, cylinder and relay mount!
With plenty of room to advance and retard! Nice and easy!
So I picked up a mag plate from Desh (Morris Magneto) while at Wauseon. This plate has the studs re-positioned so you can slip the mag into a knuckle case without having to fuck with a grinder on anything. Getting the old flat head screws out of the existing plate was a bit of a pain but not too bad. The pictures are kinda shitty but you get the idea. It fits nice into the mocked up motor so it should work fine on the one I'm gonna use...
