Oh Sandy...

The view from my door yesterday morning...

My poor '94 Ford Van took a bit of a beating...

Fixin' stuff...

Hurricane Sandy hit us hard in the PA, NJ, NY area Monday night. I had some issues...trees falling on my vehicles, siding ripping off, water coming into the house, etc. but nothing I couldn't deal with (still no power). Others were wiped out...especially along the shore. Still waiting to hear from a few that are cut off on barrier islands...

My thoughts go out to those that are less fortunate....

Hope to hear from friends soon.

T.R.O.G - The Start and the Finish

Early Saturday morning test runs on the beach before the crowd's arrived.I knew I shoulda used a dust ring on that drum and oh that poor rear chain...Billy pointing and laughing as I went axle deep with the Knuckle...

Me and Billy settin' up for the last run of the day...

Sorry about the over-posting of T.R.O.G. but the pics just keep on coming...these came of the Jalopy Journal. I Need to do some serious maintenance on these two and get back to building bikes....

The toll of the T.R.O.G.

The Zapper...when wet

True Grit....

Broke the left tank upper front mount on the Knuckle....
had to safety wire and wire tie it...

I think it's gonna take a little more then this to get the salt and sand off these things...

Clean up at the end of a spectacular show!

There is now so much video and so many photos of this event on line that it's insane. The crowd was estimated at 3000 and everybody was filming. This was such a great event to be a part of. I'm still buzzing from it! some of these pics are out of order...enjoy 'em.

Ended up leaving our bikes in the bar Thursday night...

Tommy's awesome ford van...pushing the roll off dumpster

First we tried pulling it out...

Ford van to the rescue...now the winch....

The beach did not look good...

Mel's props for the race

Hhhhhhm as the tide went out it looked doable...

Setting up

Back to the bar to get my knuckle...

Test runs Saturday morning...yeah baby!

Maybe this will work!

Harley's on the jetty...sweet!

Mel didn't where shoes the entire time...

Get some!

I spoke to Mel Thursday afternoon and he said, "Why aren't you down here yet? We're having a Pre-pre party". I couldn't think of any reason why not to be...I loaded up the van and hit the road for the Jersey Shore. I arrived at 10th Avenue Burrito (a great bar with great food and a great owner!) at about 8 PM., there were bikes and hot rods filling the lot. I was greeted by Joe Oz and Mel and I proceeded to dump my knuckle off the truck and rip a hole shot across the parking lot. We hung out and I got stupider as the night went on. After multiple burn outs and and my usual display of motorcycle idiocracy the police finally showed up. I had already parked and was back inside. The folks in the lot blamed it on some asshole on an '85 Sportster  and the cops left us with a warning...of course I repeated the performance again before the evening concluded...
We headed back to Mel's house leaving his Indian and my Knuckle in the bar.
Friday morning...got up early and began working our asses off. The beach and weather looked real shaky and frankly I was concerned as to whether Mel and Tom could pull this off...especially when Mel's pick up got stuck up to the axles right off the bat.
I'll make a long story short and say that the weather cleared up Friday early evening and the Friday night beach party was off the charts! Band, food, drink and tons of people from all over! Then back to the Burrito after for an After- Pre-Party-Party...
Saturday morning...the sun was shinning and the weather felt like a summer day...unreal...we broke our asses again setting up and me, Mel and the "Cubans" Matt and Billy (they're not really Cuban they just both look like Castro) hit the beach for some test runs. Things were shaping up! Matt and Billy took turns on Marty's 1950 TT Panhead and I ran the Knuckle and my WLDR. Bikes, hot rods and people began to arrive in droves...
By the way the pics above are not quit in order because I'm lazy and don't know an easy way to rearrange them.

More to come...
