Jerry Franz Visit...a good distraction...

It's been over forty years since Jerry saw his dad's
(Larry Franz Sr.) first Harley Hill Climber.

With Jerry and Diana Franz

Jerry doing an inspection...

Slight turfiing....

Float bowl fuel sprinkler....

Jerry taking a rest after pushing and kicking...

"Pit Crew" with Kelly and my son Jake...

Group shot ...

Jerry draining the fuel and instructing me
on how to straighten out the float problem

Jerry and Diana Franz came out to visit on Saturday morning. I usually don't post personal stuff but my dad passed away on Wednesday night and we had a service for him on Saturday afternoon. Jerry and Diana's visit in the morning was a great distraction and helped keep my mind off of things...
Jerry was able to get reacquainted with his dad's old Harley Hill Climber in my living room...Jerry hadn't seen the bike since his dad sold it in around 1970.
We moved on to getting the 1937 Climber a got from him a few years ago fired up... After working out a few bugs (kill button grounded out) and with the help of my son Jake, supplying lighter fluid and doing some push starting, we got the 1937 Very Modified Harley Hill Climber running and I was able to do a little turfing of the yard before the spewing float bowl shut us down...Nothing like sitting on a running Alchy / Nitro bike with fuel spraying all over your left leg!
Jerry schooled me on what to do to get it fixed up and hopefully I can get him back over here today after the hill climbs.
I have more pics and video to post when I get a chance...

  1. Very sorry to hear about your dad .My own dad passed away in 2005 and I was just talking about him minutes before I went to your blog. When you get the bike running safely you have to give us a report on what riding on Nitro feels like compared to gas.
