Primary cleaned of dirt and sand...
but it had a few too many cracks to put back on...
Found an (already) repaired, suitable replacement...but it was blasted years ago and did not blend well compared to the original off the '46 (Top) here is a ...BEFORE pic of the replacement (bottom)
Time for my patented treatment...
Spray a light coat of flat black engine paint...
...and rub in used knucklehead leakage oil

My rear chain guard was also cracked so...
I found this donor hiding on an old ULH fender
Nice Crust!
Separating the chain guard from the fender may take some doing...
I hear lubricant helps loosen up aged parts...
A few twists of the vise grip and the nut spun right off!
Free at last...

I'm taking a short break from the '46 so I thought I would post this morning's progress...well back to work...
