Progress Continues...Tranny Time! (Not that kind)

Plate and hardware installed

Popped right in...

Finger extension tool...to place the nut...

Primary cleaned of dirt and sand...
but it had a few too many cracks to put back on...

Found an (already) repaired, suitable replacement...but it was blasted years ago and did not blend well compared to the original off the '46 (Top) here is a ...BEFORE pic of the replacement (bottom)

Time for my patented treatment...

Spray a light coat of flat black engine paint...

...and rub in used knucklehead leakage oil

And there you have it! The treated inner ...AFTER
(Bottom)

My rear chain guard was also cracked so...
I found this donor hiding on an old ULH fender

Nice Crust!
Separating the chain guard from the fender may take some doing...

I hear lubricant helps loosen up aged parts...

A few twists of the vise grip and the nut spun right off!

Free at last...

More to be done...

Crusty goodness...

Carefully removing the ancient crust and filth...

Nice hole...

Saving the crust for future generations...

Yum...

1/4-24...cleaned up the threads

Found a usable 1/4-24 nut...

Ready for installation...

I'm taking a short break from the '46 so I thought I would post this morning's progress...well back to work...
