Spent four wonderful days and three glorious nights in Oley PA! I again did not take enough pictures of bikes or people! The weather was great for the most part, windy on Wednesday and rained Friday at night  (but the Moon was Shining) and in between it was great. The meet was jammed with cool shit as usual and it was great to see everyone and meet some new people especially after a brutal PA winter! I met a couple of Cats from Japan...Taka and Sonny...a pleasure to meet you guy,s as well as, Dave Polgreen who I got a chance to bullshit with a little.
I picked up a few things and actually sold some stuff that I didn't have a use for...My '46 knuckle clutch locked up after letting it sit for a couple hours after doing multiple hole shots and she  required a field repair...no big deal...took the clutch apart and had a fiber plate that glued itself to a steel plate. I pried them apart with a screwdriver and soaked 'em in gasoline and I was doing burnouts again within the hour!
It was another fantastic Oley!

  1. I was there on Friday for a few hours, left by noontime. The prices were through the roof. I love these meets but I'm starting to get sick of seeing the full size mobile home sellers, they are ruining the whole scene. $900.00 for a single bare knucklehead that looks like it sat at the bottom of a swamp for 20 yrs. $300.00 for a tombstone tail lightt.., $400.00 for an O.E.M rigid oil tank. They come in 2 full days before the public gets a shot, pick the place clean and price out for the European/jap buyer. Spending 8hrs. round trip traveling to try to get to the meet early on the day it opens is just a waste of time.

  2. Tim, Unfortunately the prices are (for the most part) ridiculous... I don't go to these meets expecting to buy anything any more, other than hardware or maybe a lucky find. This year I bought a few Colony kits, tires from Coker, a set of Buco saddlebags and a $20 knuckle tank (that was a wall hanger). That was it. I heard of some deals but I'm getting too lazy to race to every milk crate. There are too many guys that do this for a living for me to compete with. I mainly go to have fun, ride around and use up all my vacation time...

  3. Hey Hollywood ! Thanks for the good deal on the mystery clutch. Got it bead blasted and parkerized already. Just have to find out what it fits ! There is no point whining about prices, for a lot of us it is really just a reflection of our age as we can remember when stuff was relatively cheap. Epay and TV shows have ended all that.

  4. I always wanted to go… but sounds like it's not worth it for the bargains. Looks like a great time though with some amazing bikes. Jeff, I have seen many photos of your bikes on the web with comments such as 'my favourite bike at Oley'!

  5. Hey Barry, You're welcome! Glad to see it finally put to use. Yeah as far as the whining goes there are still some prices that boggle the mind...an HD brake light switch missing screws for $100? Wow. I'm not that old...

  6. Guy, There just aren't that many bargains out there at the main stream meets...although it is relative to what part of the world you're from. What I might think is outfuckinragous , you may think is a good deal. I will say that Oley is worth going to, regardless of all the price stuff...oh and thanks, It's nice to know people out there appreciate my bikes thanks for letting me know about the comments...

  7. Hey Hollywood, good to meet you man! Your bikes are killer and it was great to talk to you. I initially found the prices at Oley to be really high but I ended up finding a bunch of super good deals. Like everything in life, you have to hustle, scratch and claw for the great rewards. Or get lucky. I had both happen. Oley is a fantastic meet, I will be there next year for sure.

  8. Thanks Dave. It was a good to meet you too. I guess I'm getting too lazy to scratch below the surface. I used to average buying two bikes per meet and a pile of parts...no more. Glad you found some deals! Let me know when you're back on the Eastern side!
